ACADEMIC RENAL PATHOLOGIST

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is seeking two academic renal pathologists at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical (X) or the Health Sciences Clinical Series. The bulk of the renal pathology service supports a high-volume kidney transplant center and a rapidly expanding outreach service. Additional areas of surgical pathology training and expertise is desirable, including head and neck, endocrine pathology, gynecologic pathology, breast/thoracic pathology, pediatric pathology, cytopathology. However, other subspecialty areas will also be considered. Other desirable qualifications include training and expertise in informatics, molecular, and/or quality improvement.

The ideal candidate is an academically productive pathologist with an ability to maintain a high level of clinical service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with medical and technical staff, trainees, physicians, and others. Strong interest in teaching and/or research is required. Teaching duties may include clinical, didactic, and small group teaching of housestaff and medical students, interdisciplinary conferences to housestaff and faculty, and curriculum development in subspecialty areas. Participation in the research mission of the institution is expected, either as a collaborator or as the intellectual leader of clinically-oriented research projects pertinent to the candidate's areas of expertise and subspecialty training, depending on academic series chosen for appointment.

Requirements: DO, MD, or MD/PhD and board-eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology. An appropriate record of accomplishment in clinical care, teaching, and research to meet requirements for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one of the University of California's clinically-intensive academic series (Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor). Must have completed a renal pathology fellowship by July 1, 2023 or have relevant work experience in renal pathology. Eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in California is required.
